Music Together®

At Family Rhythms, we are proud to offer the early childhood music program Music Together®. Since 1987, Music Together® has introduced millions of children, parents, and teachers around the world to the powerful benefits of making music part of everyday life. Today, Music Together experiences for children from birth through grade two are offered around the world, including right here in Vancouver.

From babyhood through the early elementary years, Music Together nurtures each child’s natural musicality in a playful, musically rich environment. Our research-based program is intentionally non-formal and non-performance oriented, so each child can grow at their own pace in a way that is developmentally appropriate.

Through Family Rhythms Membership, your family can enjoy a full season of musical experiences guided by one of our trained teachers. No matter which Family Rhythms offering you attend, you’ll discover songs, activities, and ideas that help bring music into your family’s everyday life.

We Teach the Way Children Learn

At Music Together, we know children learn differently from adults. They learn instinctively and constantly through imitation, play, immersion in their environment, and interaction with adults and older children. The family-like setting of Music Together creates an ideal environment for musical growth, all grounded in research on early childhood and music development.

Your Role Is Essential

You are your child’s most important teacher right now! Young children grow through play, experimentation, and by watching and listening to the grownups they love. Joining in with enthusiasm is one of the most meaningful ways a parent or caregiver can support a child’s lifelong relationship with music. You do not need musical experience—just a willingness to play, participate, and enjoy making music together. Our teachers are specially trained to create a welcoming atmosphere where you can join in freely, experiment, even get a little silly, and deepen your connection with your child along the way.

Music Learning Supports All Learning®

Wiggling, singing, and laughing with your child is so much fun, it can be easy to miss how much growth is happening along the way. Our research-based approach nurtures musicality, creativity, self-expression, and confidence while also supporting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Because these benefits build over time, children experience the fullest growth when families participate consistently throughout the early years.
